Do you like to cook and like to take pictures? Well maybe you could try to become a food photographer. There are many uses for pictures of food and meals. Some of the places that need culinary pictures are websites, cookbooks, magazines, newspapers and textbooks.
While it is possible to try to sell your pictures directly to these publishing companies, many photographers put their food related images with stock agencies.
There are many stock agencies out there, unfortunately their are many photographers. While I love food and cooking I also love to take pictures. I have images with a stock agency that has over 20 million photos–that is a lot of competition!
This picture is one I have with a couple of stock agencies. I’m sure there are hundreds of pomegranates. All you can hope for is that your image fits what the picture buyer is looking for.
Another concern for photographers is the price of stock photos is going down. Some say it is because of micro stock agencies (they charge less per image) and some say it’s the large amount of images now available–I think it’s both.
Whether you take pictures of food you
cook for yourself or to make some money, it is a really great way to take pictures. Especially the part about getting to eat what you make for the pictures.
