Going to Pastry Art School in New York? Can You Handle Living In the City?

Are you thinking of attending a pastry art school in NY? If you are there are a few things to consider about living and going to school in New York. There are a number of great schools in New York that teach pastry arts. The French Culinary Institute, Culinary Institute of America and Institute of Culinary Education, are some of the top schools in New York. While New York is probably the best place in the country to go to culinary training, there are a few things to keep in mind about going to school in New York.

New York City is a very large city, it is easy to get lost and feel lonely in a city this large. If you are considering going to school in New York, you really should visit first. If you live in or near another large city it might not be much of a transition to live in New York City, but if you are from a smaller town it could be a big shock.

A great way to battle the loneliness of the big city is to find a club or group to join at your school. Check with the school’s office and see if there is a club that you might like to join. This is probably one of the fastest ways to meet other people.

Friends or family living close to New York City can make the transition much easier. Knowing there is someone you know that you can visit if you get lonely can be very reassuring.

It might not make sense in a city of eight million people that you might get lonely, but it is true. With so many people going about their business it can be hard to meet people.
