Are you looking for Italian sausage recipes for the holidays? Here is a great one that can be used for Thanksgiving or the winter holidays with turkey. It’s great for stuffing or dressing (depending on what you call it…).
Ingredients:
• 1 pound Italian Sausage
• 1/4 cup olive oil
• 2 loaves focaccia or French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
• 1 teaspoon pepper
• 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
• 1 small green pepper, diced
• 1/2 cup chopped oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes
• 1/2 cup pimiento-stuffed olives, chopped
• 1 can (4.25 oz.) chopped ripe olives
• 5 large leaves fresh basil, chopped
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 eggs
• 1-1/2 cups white wine or chicken or vegetable stock
• 1/4 cup butter, cubed
Cooking instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Crumble and brown sausage and set aside
Combine bread and olive oil in a large bowl and mix thoroughly, sprinkle this mixture with pepper
Put the bread and oil mixture in a greased 15 x 10 inch glass baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. After 10 minutes remove from oven and give a light stir and let it cool until warm
Combine the baked bread crumbs, cooked sausauge, parmesan cheese, green pepper, tomatoes, garlic, basil and olives in a large bowl.
Combine eggs and water and beat, mix the egg and water mixture with the bread crumb and sausage mixture.
Put the whole thing in a greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
Place small squares of butter around the top of the mixture
Bake uncovered for 40 minutes at 350 degrees
